Chisinau, Oct. 20 /MOLDPRES/- On the last day in the Swiss Confederation, President Maia Sandu met in Zurich with compatriots settled in Switzerland, the presidential press service has reported.
"They voiced hope for a better Moldova. Our citizens want concrete results in the fight against corruption. They want Moldovan products, with added value, to reach the European markets. They want more accessible flights to Chisinau, bridges to Romania, closer ties with the European Union", the official said.
The president informed the Moldovans residing in Switzerland about what is being done at home. "We invest in infrastructure, support business, advance reforms, move towards the EU. Moldova's accession to the EU is the only way to guarantee the country's security and protect our democracy. We conduct an active foreign policy and do our homework so that we can initiate accession negotiations as soon as possible and be ready to become a member country of the EU by the end of the decade", the official said.
Maia Sandu said that our citizens settled in Switzerland are open to helping the transformation of the country. "I enjoy the questions about how our citizens from abroad can contribute to the progress of Moldova. I urge them to continue to support democracy in the elections, to invest in the country and, if possible, to return home, to put their shoulder to the change of Moldova for the better", said the president.
