Moldovan deputy speaker had several meetings with American, European officials

Chisinau, Oct. 20 /MOLDPRES/- On a visit to the United States of America, deputy speaker Mihail Popșoi had meetings with member of the friendship group with the Republic of Moldova within the U.S. Congress Dina Titus, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State responsible for our region Chris Smith and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
In discussion with Titus, Popsoi approached security issues of our region and Moldova's contribution to the defense of Ukraine from the Russian invasion, by providing support for refugees and opening solidarity bands. The officials also addressed the reforms and the European integration path of our country.
Popsoi expressed gratitude for the support given by the USA. "I hope this support will continue due to the difficult circumstances our country is facing," he said.
He had a meeting with Chris Smith. The discussions focused on the bilateral agenda between the Republic of Moldova and the United States of America.
He was present at the speech given by Ursula von der Leyen at Hudson Institute.
Later, the Moldovan official thanked the European Commission president for the support and voiced hope for approval by the Commission to start the accession negotiations of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union.
Popșoi is on a visit to the United States of America, following the invitation of the State Department on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) program.
