EU's Support to Confidence Building Measures Programme continues to be implemented at sixth stage

Chisinau, 20 October /MOLDPRES/ - The EU’s Support to Confidence Building Measures Programme continues to be implemented at its sixth stage. The latter started on 18 July 2023 and the deadline was established for 31 December 2025, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
The budget of the current programme is of 4.37 million dollars; the financer is the European Union and the implementer is the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Moldova.
The Reintegration Policies Bureau will ensure, in continuation, the partnership in the process of implementation of the projects meant to strengthen the confidence between the residence of the two banks of Dniester, through the carrying out of joint activities, removing the disparities, sustainable development and stimulation of the Transnistrian settlement process.
The projects from the following priority sectors will be backed at this stage:
1) economic development and creation of decent jobs for women and men;
2) improved topic-related cooperation between the civil society from both banks of Dniester;
3) community development and supporting small social infrastructure projects;
4) promotion of the cultural heritage. .

The participants in the meeting of the Programme’s managing committee from 19 October approved the ways of implementation and the criteria of selection for each sectoral component.
During 2009-2023, five phases of the Programme have been implemented, with a budget worth over 38 million euros. The previous fifth stage started on 1 January 2019 and then was extended till 30 June 2024 (budget – 13.4 million euros), in order to allow completing the project on restoration and preservation of the Chisinau-based Circus.
