Criminal file opened on case of trafic accident in central Moldova. Prosecutor at car's wheel

Chisinau, 21 October /MOLDPRES/ - A criminal file has been opened on the deed of a traffic accidents which occurred in the Bahmut village, central Calarasi district, in the wake of which four people died. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office (PG), law-enforcers established that a prosecutor had been at the wheel of the vehicle involved in the accident. The prosecutor was detained.
The criminal file was opened under the article of the Criminal Code, which provides the following: ‘’Infringement of the traffic security rules by the person who drives a transport means, an infringement which caused, out of imprudence, the death of more people.’’
Given that law-enforcers found out that a prosecutor had been at the wheel of the car, the criminal prosecution was started by the acting Prosecutor General. The competence of the criminal prosecution was established for Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Causes (PCCOCS), with the setting up of a criminal prosecution group, made up of prosecutors and criminal prosecution officers.
The driver was detained and prosecutors are to demand the enforcement of the preventive measure of preventive arrest.
Four persons, including one child, all members of one family, died in the wake of a serious traffic accident which occurred on the highway R-1 in the Bahmut settlement, central Calarasi district, after a vehicle had hit a cart. Another two persons were taken over by ambulance.
