Moldovan president meets former Lithuanian president, opposition leader of Belarus

Chisinau, 21 October /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has had a meeting with the former president of Lithuania, Dalia Grybauskaite, on a visit to Moldova to participate in the Moldova Women Forum 2023, held in Chisinau today, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The main subjects at the meeting were Moldova’s European agenda and Lithuania’s experience of accession to the European Union. Moldova’s accession to the European Union depends on each citizen and the direction in which Moldova is going is correct – this was the message conveyed by Dalia Grybauskaite. The former Lithuanian president is regarded as one of the most experimented politicians at the European level, as she led Lithuania on the period of negotiations on accession and was also EU Commissioner.
Attending the meeting was also a Polish European MP, former EU Commissioner Danuta Hübner, who conveyed messages of support for Moldova’s European integration way.
Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu also discussed with the leader of the opposition from Belarus Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, who also participates in the Moldova Women Forum 2023. The discussions were focused on the situation in the region and the bilateral agenda of the parliamentary group for the support of the Democratic Belarus, set up last year. The lawmakers of the parliamentary group, led by Marina Morozova, had a separate discussion with the opposition leader from Belarus.
„I wished success to these women, who are special guests of the Moldova Women Forum 2023 and I am sure that such events will inspire as many as possible women to more actively get involved in the social, economic life. Our women create and lead success businesses, become world champions in performance sports, do wonderful things in the villages and cities which they lead,’’ Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said.
