Moldovan president says 40 per cent of MPs women, every fifth mayoralty led by woman

Chisinau, 21 October /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today participated in the Moldova Women Forum 2023, during which she informed the women participants from various fields about how strong the women of Moldova are, the presidential press service has reported.

„The voice of women from Moldova is strong and is heard. In parliament, we have 40 per cent women lawmakers and every fifth mayoralty from our country is led by a woman. This was the subject about which I talked at the Moldova Women Forum 2023, an event where I met over 200 women. I also spoke about obstacles: domestic violence, hatred discourse, unfair salaries. We will overcome all of them only by backing each other, uniting our efforts, the women and men,’’ the head of state said.      

The Moldovan president also informed the women about the fact, in these difficult times, we should do our utmost to protect our democracy. We can edify a more resilient and more equitable society through the solidarity and joint commitment of the women and men.
