Moldova's Chamber of Commerce and Industry marks 105th anniversary of foundation

Chisinau, 23 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Moldova has marked the 105th anniversary of its foundation at an official ceremony in Chisinau. The event brought together representatives of the government, CCI’s members from the country’s districts, including the Transnistrian region and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia (UTA Gagauzia), officials, working groups of the Economic Council under the Prime Minister, ambassadors, delegates from Romania, Ukraine and the Association of European Chambers of Commerce Euroochambers.
At the event, CCI President Sergiu Harea said the institution he is leading was the biggest business association of Moldova, which voluntarily brings together more than 1,100 companies from all branches of the national economy. „On the occasion of the celebration of the 105 years since the foundation of the chamber institution from Moldova, I offer you sincere congratulations, accompanied by gratitude for the self-denial and professionalism with which its employees represent the general interests of the entrepreneurs from our country. Today, we cannot imagine the Chamber of Commerce and Industry without these services which define it as the only institution which has representations in all regions of the country and which can efficiently meet the needs of economic agents. We promote the public-private dialogue with all authorities, participate in the consultation of draft normative acts, as well as submit new initiatives. Locally, the branches of the Chamber signed the local business agenda with 32 districts and ensure the public-private platform of dialogue in regions. Certainly, we cannot imagine the Chamber of Commerce without exhibition activity, which has an impressive history, or back in 1929, the first exhibition activity was recorded at the chamber institution. Since then till present, a considerably number of entrepreneurs have promoted their goods and services at the exhibitions organized by CCI, both locally, nationally and internationally,’’ CCI Head Sergiu Harea said.
Attending the event, Prime Minister Dorin Recean awarded honorary diplomas on behalf of the government to CCI employees. ‘’The goal of the government is quite clear: to improve the business environment and make it as agile as possible, to open the markets. We live in a developing society. We want to educate a society which respects the profit which you earn honestly, transparently, in a competition, competitive environment. The state must ensure conditions of de-bureaucratization. We will digitalize the services, will have budgetary and fiscal policies which are to allow you enhance the profitability and then, I am sure, the society will be more prosperous,’’ Dorin Recean said.
President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry from Ukraine Gennadiy Chyzhykov noted that the organization he leads and CCI of Moldova cooperated actively in more key sectors, in order to promote the development of business and the economic growth of the two countries. ‘’The results of the last years show that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Moldova is presently one of the principal actors of the country’s economy,’’ the Ukrainian official said.
The state secretary of the Department for Relation with Moldova of Romania’s Government (DRRM), Adrian Dupu, stressed the importance of the business environment as engine of economic growth and the importance of the honest, open and predictable partnership between the state and entrepreneurs. ‘’We will contribute, based on the partnership between DRRM and CCI, to the support of your actions for the benefit of the quality of the lives of Moldova’s citizens, especially for strengthening Moldova’s way to the European Union,’’ the official specified.
CCI is the official representative of the business people from Moldova. Being the biggest business association of Moldova, CCI brings together over 1,100 members, big, small and medium-sized enterprises from all branches of the economy and is member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Association of European Chambers of Commerce (Eurochambers). The CCI system comprises 10 branches, which provides assistance needed on all the territory of the country.
The first Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bessarabia, with residence in Chisinau, was set up under a decree by King Ferdinand on 24 October 1918; it was made of the counties Chisinau, Balti, Orhei, Soroca, Bender, Ackerman, Ismail and Cahul. The Chamber was made up of 35 members merchants and manufacturers. Starting from 1991, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry has become a non-governmental body of the fresh independent state Moldova.
