Ambassador of United Kingdom ends diplomatic mission in Moldova

Chisinau, 23 October /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today had a meeting with Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Moldova Steven Fisher, on the occasion of the end of his diplomatic mission in the country, the presidential press service has reported.

In the last years, the relations between Moldova and the United Kingdom has significantly consolidated – an aspect reflected through bilateral visits, enhanced cooperation in the fight against corruption and facilitating the trade. Starting from 1 August 2023, the United Kingdom removed the taxes on import and the tariff contingents for seven Moldovan agricultural products, thus creating new opportunities for exporters from Moldova.

The head of state appreciated the efforts of Ambassador Fisher to strengthen the relations between Moldova and the United Kingdom and to stimulate the bilateral cooperation. The Moldovan president expressed gratitude for the continuous support of the British government in the security sector. The close cooperation with such reliable partners as the United Kingdom stays at the basis of the new national security strategy of Moldova, the head of state stressed.
