Superior Council of Prosecutors announced competition for position of Prosecutor General

Chisinau, Oct. 24 /MOLDPRES/- The Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP) announced on Monday the competition for the position of Prosecutor General and approved the regulation on its organization and conduct. The files can be submitted by November 22.
Candidates are to submit the files within 30 days, and after their pre-selection, the interview stage will follow, which will be held in front of the CSP members. Afterwards, the selected candidate will be subject to the extraordinary evaluation, according to the Law on external evaluation of judges and prosecutors.
"We want the selection process to be fair and transparent, and the new Prosecutor General, who will be appointed for a seven-year term to be professional, to face all challenges and restore order in the prosecution system", Minister of Justice Veronica Mihailov-Moraru said.
Following the decree signed by President of the Republic of Moldova on September 26, the position of Prosecutor General became vacant. Prosecutor General Alexandru Stoianoglo was suspended in early October 2021, and in late September he was released from office. The interim position was held by Dumitru Robu, then by Ion Munteanu.
