British Ambassador awarded Diplomatic Merit 1st class medal

Chisinau, Oct. 24 /MOLDPRES/- Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Moldova Steven Fisher was awarded the medal Diplomatic Merit, 1st class. The distinction was conferred by order of Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu as high appreciation for the significant involvement in strengthening the strategic partnership and cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Great Britain.
According to the MAEIE press service, the distinction was handed to the British ambassador by State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Cuc at a meeting on the end of the English diplomat's mandate in our country.
The sides reviewed the key moments of Ambassador Fisher's mandate, focusing on on strengthening the political and strategic partnership, both through high-level dialogue and cooperation in key sectors for the development of the Republic of Moldova, the promotion of good governance and the strengthening of democracy.
Vladimir Cuc thanked the United Kingdom for the valuable support in managing the multiple crises caused by the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine, the humanitarian side, as wel as in dealing with hybrid attacks through assistance to combat disinformation and strategic communication, security and defense.
Steven Fisher was appointed ambassador to the Republic of Moldova in September 2019.
