Moldovan president meets representatives of European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations

Chisinau, 25 October /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today had a meeting with a delegation of the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO). The delegation is on its sixth mission of monitoring elections in Moldova, the presidential press service has reported.

The discussions were focused on the ensuring of a transparent, free and fair ballot, in the context of the local elections due to be held in next November.

The Moldovan president noted that the electoral legislation had been improved, taking into account the recommendations of the EU’s Commission. At the same time, the head of state referred to the risk of the foreign interference in the local polls, the problem of campaigns’ illegal financing and attempt of corrupting candidates and voters.

Maia Sandu urged the observers to pay increased attention to these actions to compromise the free and fair elections.
