Chisinau, 26 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prosecutors must fight against the bandits, but not thee them, as they should be two different worlds. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today made statements to this effect, in the context of the case of the former Prosecutor General, Alexandr Stoianoglo.
In press statements, the speaker said ‘’this person will remain in the country’s history as a state official meant to combat the crime and corruption, but he thee convicts.’’
„As for what is invoked according to the procedure, there was not a procedure of appealing at that time, really; now, it exists and the next prosecutors due to hold this office will be able to benefit from this legal framework,’’ Igor Grosu said.
Two days ago, the European Court of Human Rights published a ruling, in which it found out, in the case of former Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo, the ‘’infringement of the right of access to court – impossibility for the Prosecutor General to appeal his suspension, prompted by the criminal procedures initiated against him.’’
Alexandr Stoianoglo took over the leadership of the Prosecutor General’s Office in November 2019 and the criminal prosecution started against him in October 2021. The suspended Prosecutor General, Alexandr Stoianoglo, was dismissed two years after he had been detained.
