Former heads of state to no longer benefit from office, personal assistant in Moldova

Chisinau, 26 October /MOLDPRES/ - The former presidents of Moldova will no longer benefit from working office and personal assistant, upon the expiration of the mandate. The MPs today approved a legislative initiative to this end.
At the same time, the document contains also a string of provisions which are aimed at optimizing the work of the State Chancellery. The initiative sees the creation of an office of coordination of implementation of the government’s priorities – a structure due to be subordinated directly to the prime minister. The office will coordinate the process of planning, elaboration of projects on development and actions of reform which regard the high-level priorities of the government and will monitor their implementation by ministries, central administrative authorities and other organizational structures within their sphere of competence.
Also, the legislative initiative sees the taking over by the State Chancellery of the task of working out, promotion and monitoring of the implementation of the state’s policy in the field of state control over the entrepreneurial activity, with the goal to optimize and monitor the process. In the context, the powers of the State Chancellery are specified, taking into account the tasks specific for a Centre of the government.
Among them, there are the ensuring of the organizational assistance of the government’s work; coordinating the activity of the ministries and central administrative authorities, in order to achieve the priority strategic goal – Moldova’s European integration; coordination, organization and monitoring of the process of adjusting the national legislation to the European Union’s legislation; ensuring the government’s cooperation with the public authorities, etc. The legislative initiative also envisages the setting up of a position of state secretary of the government.
