DOC Building energy performance to be improved

Chisinau, Oct. 27 /MOLDPRES/- The promulgation decree, as well as the Law on energy performance of buildings have been published in the Official Journal.
The document provides for minimum energy efficiency requirements in the case of new buildings and buildings undergoing major renovation, achieving energy performance certification of buildings, as well as informing owners and managers of buildings or potential buyers about the level of energy performance of buildings.
It aims to regulate the inspection mechanism of heating systems and ventilation and conditioning systems by energy assessors. These specialists will offer consultancy in the field, being registered with the Agency for Energy Efficiency.
The document establishes the energy performance measures of residential and non-residential buildings, so as to create a real estate fund with a high level of energy efficiency and decarbonized by 2050. Also, policies are established to reduce the final energy consumption, in the situation in which buildings represent the biggest consumer of energy, about 50% of the total consumption.
The law enters into force at the expiration of 6 months from the date of publication in the Official Journal.
