Chisinau, 27 October /MOLDPRES/ - The spokesman for the government, Daniel Voda, has commented on the subject of denunciation of the agreements with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) at a weekly news conference following the cabinet meeting.
„In the beginning of the 2023 year, the authorities started a process of inventorying the treaties concluded within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), with each agreement separately considered, in the context of the opportunity to preserve the capacity of CIS member. This is a complex and scrupulous process and the final decision is taken by the authorities, depending on the relevance of the documents for Moldova’s citizens. Thus, all agreements denounced produce no benefits and are useless for the citizens and institutions of Moldova,’’ Daniel Voda said.
At this point, the authorities identified a number of over 100 treaties concluded within CIS, which do not produce value added for citizens; yet, this number is, in continuation, varying, depending on the consolidated opinions of the ministries. Presently, legal procedures were initiated for the denunciation of 70 out these treaties and in case of 29 treaties the denunciation procedures have been already finished.
In early 2023, according to the State Register of Treaties, held by the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry, Moldova was party to 282 treaties within CIS.
