IGSU received batch of equipment from USA

Chisinau, Nov. 2 /MOLDPRES/- The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations /IGSU/ received today a batch of equipment for prevention actions donated by the US Embassy.
Attending the event were IGSU head Alexandru Oprea, the press attaché at the US Embassy in the Republic of Moldova, Susan Stancampiano Fortnam, and the executive director of the Transparency International-Moldova Association, Lilia Zaharia Cravcenco.
Oprea thanked the American partners for the support and mentioned that the equipment is meant for strengthening prevention and public awareness efforts, as well as completing the level of equipment of firefighters and rescuers. Moreover, the official noted that any investment in the prevention diminishes the vulnerabilities of the country, and contributes positively to reducing the indicators of human losses.
Susan Stancampiano Fortnam emphasized the importance of providing specialized tools and equipment to the departments responsible for informing the population about risk prevention measures, as well as ensuring the institution's effective communication with the public. The official said that the support of the US Embassy will increase the effectiveness of informing citizens about the missions of rescuers and firefighters, as well as actions to prevent risks and emergency situations.
Thanks to the USA, 25 employees from the territorial subdivisions of IGSU participated in a workshop - Communication with journalists: challenges and solutions.
The total value of the donated equipment is 22 thousand US dollars.
