Chisinau, Nov. 2 /MOLDPRES/- On election day, the video recording system will operate in the polling stations.
According to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), this system has no connection to the Internet network, it is functional and active throughout the entire day from the moment of the start of the electoral operations in preparation for the opening of the polling station (sealing of ballot boxes, verification of the existence of electoral lists, ballots vote, stamps) and until the completion of summing up the voting results by the members of the electoral office of the polling station.
"This system represents an additional measure to secure and ensure the transparency of the voting process, of electoral operations on election day, including against possible electoral fraud. At the same time, the system will not be used in voting with a mobile ballot box", the CEC said.
The commission reiterates that the installation of video cameras in polling stations will not compromise the secrecy of the vote. The images will not be transmitted online, but stored on a separate device, exclusively in case of possible electoral disputes, they will be able to be used as evidence for their examination and resolution.
The general local elections will be held on November 5. During the election, 898 mayors and 11,058 local councilors will be elected, of which 9,972 are village, city and 1,086 district/municipal ones.
