Chisinau, 3 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE) has instructed the cancellation of the registration of the electoral contenders nominated by the Chance Political Party for the general local polls due on 5 November, the government’s communication and protocol department reported.
The Central Electoral Commission will ensure the informing of the electoral bureaus of the polling stations about the need to put the seal with the inscription, Withdrawn, on all ballot papers at the electoral contenders on behalf of the Chance Political Party till the end of the day of 4 November 2023.
According to Prime Minister Dorin Recean, the decision comes following the hearing of the reports of the law-enforcement institutions from Moldova and after an inventorying of all categories of evidence. Also, based on the report unveiled by the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) today, Russia finances the crime ring led by Ilan Shor, aiming at compromising the electoral processes in Moldova and undermining the country’s security. The state’s institutions were acting including based on the information and warnings received in the last years from the country’s foreign partners, especially Ukraine, Romania and the USA.
„Russia presently cannot enter Moldova with tanks, just as it entered Ukraine, but it enters with organized crime, which it finances with tens of millions of euros – dirty money meant to corrupt the justice, to corrupt the civil servants, to finance cyber attacks, with undermining of the institutions, political corruption, destruction of the electoral system, misinformation and information war. I want to make it clear – we protect Moldova from a well-organized network of criminals; an organized crime ring is withdrawn from elections, not a political party,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said at a news briefing following the meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations.
