Moldovan judoka becomes European champion for the first time ever

Chisinau, 4 November /MOLDPRES/ - Judo player Denis Vieru has become European champion for the first time ever.
According to the National Olympic and Sports Committee, in France, the 27-year-old sportsman gained four victories at the age category of 66 kg against Armenian judoka Artyom Ghalachyan, Luukas Saha from Finland, Yashar Najafov from Azserbaijan and Spanish judo player David Garcia Torne.
Denis Vieru got prizes at European championship two times: bronze medal in 2020 and in 2022. He ranked third two times at world championships as well.
The sportsman will participate in the Paris Olympic Games in 2024.
