European officials, United4Moldova: Resolution on support of Moldova's European integration way adopted

Chisinau, 4 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will benefit from support in the process of accession to the European Union and for the improvement of the residents’ living conditions. A resolution stipulating this was approved at a today’s meeting of the presidents of the Committees on European Affairs and Committees on Foreign Affairs of the European Union. The event titled, United4Moldova, was hosted by the parliament’s commission for foreign policy and European integration, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Those over 80 participants in the meeting, representatives of different member states of the European Union recognized and welcomed the progress made by Moldova in the reform of the judicial sector, the sustained efforts of de-oligarchization and combating the corruption, despite the interest which took root and the challenges. The resolution represents a reaffirmation of the dedication of the EU nations towards the perspective of Moldova’s accession, recognition of the fact that the country’s future is in the European Union. At the same time, the document emphasizes the role of the support provided by the European Union for a more resilient and more united Europe.
Thus, the participants in the meeting expressed determination to provide, in continuation, Moldova with assistance, in the context of the achievement of the goal of accession to EU, of the country’s reform and improving the citizens’ living conditions. ‘’This commitment shows our firm devotion towards the modeling of a future which should be not only prosperous, but also deeply harmonized with the aspirations of the Moldovan citizens,’’ the Resolution reads.
At the same time, the Resolution calls on the European Commission and the European Council to continue backing Moldova’s fight for democracy and reaffirmation of Moldova’s sovereign decision to follow its development way.
Moldova’s parliament today hosted, for the first time ever, the meeting of the presidents of the Committees on European Affairs and Committees on Foreign Affairs of the European Union countries. During the entire day, the Moldovan authorities, along with tens of European officials discussed the country’s European perspective and how the efforts of Moldova’s European integration can be supported. Numerous friends of Moldova participated in the discussions – MPs from different European Union member states, representatives of the European Parliament and diplomats. The meeting took place on the platform of the Moldovan parliament’s commission for foreign policy and European integration.
