General local elections in Moldova: voter turnout exceeds 35 per cent till 17:00

Chisinau, 5 November /MOLDPRES/ - About one million people exercised their right to vote at the general local elections till 17:00, which represents approximately 35 per cent of the voters.
According to data by the Central Electoral Commission, the most active electors are people with ages between 56 and 65 years – 23 per cent. The most passive are young people with ages between 18 and 25 years, whose voter turnout is 5.6 per cent. The rate of women’s participation in the ballot is over 55 per cent and the one of men – about 44 per cent.
The citizens with right to vote from Moldova today elect their mayors and councilors at the general local elections. Those 1,958 polling stations were opened at 07:00. The voting procedure will end at 21:00. As many as 2,758,810 electors are expected to vote.
