Moldovan Central Electoral Commission: preliminary results of voting for office of Chisinau mayor

Chisinau, 5 November /MOLDPRES/ - The candidate of the National Alternative Movement Party (MAN) for the office of Chisinau mayor, Ion Ceban, has got over 55 per cent of the votes processed and the candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), Lilian Carp, - 24 per cent, following the counting of 10 out of 305 official reports, according to the preliminary results unveiled by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC).
CEC’s preliminary data shows that, till 21:00, the voter turnout was of 40.9 per cent (266,978 people) in the Chisinau municipality.
As many as 151,864 women and 115,114 men participated in the 5 November local polls in Chisinau. The most active voters were from the age segment of 36-45 years; young voters and elderly people are at the opposite pole.
A number of 305 polling stations were opened for the today’s general local elections in the Moldovan capital.
Twenty seven candidates ran for the office of Chisinau mayor.
