Chisinau, 6 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) will have 20 councilors in the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC). PAS president Igor Grosu has made statements to this effect at a news briefing.
Grosu said that his formation would like a capital led ‘’by a really European mayor; yet, it observers the choice of the Chisinau residents.’’
„We will learn from this vote and will work more, in order to win people’s trust. We thank the teams from all districts of the municipality and from the suburbs for the work carried out. The Chisinau residents provided their support, in order to protect the city in CMC. As many as 84,614 citizens voted for a strong PAS team in the municipal council. Those 20 PAS councilors will supervise, along with the civil society, all actions from the city hall and will tolerate no decision which is to undermine the European integration way. We will keep an eye on the pro-Kremlin mayor. We understand that we have much work to do and many challenges ahead. We know that things always can be done better; at the same time, the support of the people makes us proud of Moldova. The fight for the important values, democracy, freedom has never been easy,’’ Grosu noted.
Twenty seven contenders competed for the position of Chisinau general mayor, among whom also PAS candidate Lilian Carp, who ranked second in the Chisinau residents’ preferences. The current mayor, Ion Ceban, won the position of Chisinau mayor.
