Chisinau, 7 November /MOLDPRES/ - A teacher of education for society from a lyceum of Moldova, who allowed an anti-Semitic message during classes, has been dismissed from office. The state secretary at the Education and Research Ministry (MEC), Valentina Olaru, made statements to this effect at a news conference today.
According to the official, the teacher voluntarily submitted an application on resignation, ‘’being aware that he had an extremist behavior and message and of undermining the dignity and human rights.’’
„The mission of each teacher is to support, with understanding and acceptance, the democratic culture which implies the valuing of the human dignity and human rights, valuing of the cultural diversity, valuing the democracy, justice, equity, equality and rule of law state,’’ Valentina Olaru said.
The Education and Research Ministry invites teachers to critically reflect on their own attitudes and to make efforts to change the behavior which results from stereotypes, radical visions and limitative convictions and to be aware that we are a community with diverse resources, with valuable experiences of authentic communication both with the pupils and with their parents.
On 31 October, the Education and Research Ministry took note as a result of a case publicized as to an anti-Semitic message conveyed during a class by a teacher of education for society at a lyceum. The institution firmly condemns the cases of showing extremist behaviors and messages and of undermining the dignity and the human rights by the education system’s employees.
