Moldova, France to sign new agreement on cooperation in defence sector

Chisinau, 8 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Defence Ministry of Moldova and the Ministry of Armed Forces of France will sign a new agreement on cooperation. The cabinet of ministers today approved the starting of the negotiations on the draft agreement between the two institutions.
According to the Defence Ministry, the action comes in the context of the strengthening of the bilateral cooperation relations and updating the legal framework through the connection to the present needs and rigours.
The document sees that the sides will cooperate in such sectors as politics and planning the defence, reform of the armed forces, exchange of experience in the field of armed forces’ organization, management of human resources, training, education and research, international missions and operations, control and management of the air space; logistics.
Defence Minister Anatolie Nosatii said the initiative on concluding the agreement had come on behalf of French Minister of Armed Forces, following the holding of the second Summit of the European Political Community 2023 in Moldova in last June. ‘’This document comprises a wide spectrum of sectors, which will contribute to the boosting of the cooperation between our institutions and, respectively, to the achievement of the goal of the National Army’s modernization,’’ Anatolie Nosatii said.
Presently, Moldova and France cooperate in the defence sector, based on an agreement signed in Paris on 15 July 1998.
