European MP says Moldovan president, pro-European government of Moldova win confidence of entire EU

Chisinau, 8 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova during only two years have become state candidate and will start the negotiations with the European Union. President Maia Sandu and the pro-European government of Moldova won the confidence of the entire European Union. European MP Siegfried Muresan made statements to this effect.  

According to Muresan, it is quite important that also pro-European politicians, able to move the country forwards, get confidence at the next elections in Moldova.

„The today’s notification by the European Commission on the starting of the negotiations on Moldova’s accession to the European Union is good news for all people of Moldova, as well as for all citizens of the Union. The safety and stability in EU depend on how safe, stable and well-integrated in Europe are the countries from our neighbourhood. Therefore, a greater European integration of Moldova, as well as of Ukraine makes us everybody be stronger and safer. The today’s announcement certifies the fact that Moldova’s future is in the European Union and that Russia’s influence in the region is ever smaller. The principal merit for this belongs to President Maia Sandu and the pro-European leadership of Moldova, which turned down all forms of pressure on behalf of Russia from the last two years and set the country on a clear way of reforms and European integration,’’ Siegfried Muresan said.      

According to Muresan, following the today’s positive notification of the Commission, the final decision on the starting of negotiations must be taken by the European Council in next December.
