Participants of liquidation of Chernobyl catastrophe consequences to receive free housing

Chisinau, Nov. 9 /MOLDPRES/- Participants of liquidation of the Chernobyl catastrophe consequences will benefit from free housing. MPs voted a draft law in the second reading.
80 apartments of Chisinau will be sent free of charge. 67 million lei were gradually earmarked from the state budget for the construction.
To benefit from a home, the applicant will have to meet several requirements, among which: be a citizen of the Republic of Moldova; to hold the ID card of participant in the liquidation of the consequences of the accident Chernobyl; not to own in private ownership or joint ownership, both in the country and abroad, a house, a building plot.
Applicants' files will be examined within a maximum of 6 months by a commission established by the Government, which will include representatives of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the Ministry of Finance, the State Chancellery, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the Ministry of Defense, SIS etc.
According to statistics, in early 2023, out of over 3,500 participants in the liquidation of the Chernobyl accident, 1,733 people were alive, of which 1,604 have different degrees of disability.
