Moldovan president meets European Union's Ambassador

Chisinau, 9 November /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today discussed with Head of the European Union’s Delegation in Moldova Jānis Mažeiks, the presidential press service has reported.
The head of state expressed gratitude for the European Commission’s decision to recommend that the EU member states start the negotiations on accession and appreciated the support provided by EU to Moldova, especially on the last period.
The officials discussed the reforms underway, which will speed up the country’s process of accession, as well as the actions which must be undertaken till the meeting of the European Council due on 14-15 December, this year. The Moldovan president informed Ambassador Mažeiks that the country further relied on the support and openness of the EU countries on the democratic way. Maia Sandu reiterated that the accession to the European Union was the only way for Moldova to protect its freedom, peace and democracy and to improve the living standards for all citizens.
