Chisinau, Nov. 10 /MOLDPRES/- On the sidelines of the Peace Forum, Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu had a meeting with Laurence Boone, Minister of State for Europe of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the MAEIE press service has reported.
The officials pointed out the importance and methods of speeding up Moldova's accession to the European Union, given the European Commission's recommendation to start accession negotiations with our country.
"I reiterated that the Republic of Moldova is ready to start the accession negotiations in the shortest possible time, we are currently in an extensive process of self-assessment of the conformity of the national legislation with the Community acquis. We are also engaged in a continuous dialogue with our French partners regarding the recognition of driving licenses and the signing of a social protection agreement. We also have excellent defense cooperation. France is helping us modernize the national army. We continue to count on the firm support of our friends and partners in the French Republic.
I expressed gratitude for the participation of French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna in the fourth edition of the Moldova Support Platform held in October in Chisinau. Thanks to this involvement, including the generous support of France, our country has managed to overcome the numerous crises generated by the unjust war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and will now focus on the development of long-term infrastructure projects", said Popescu.
