Moldovan cabinet approves amendments to Law on voluntariate

Chisinau, 15 November /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today approved the draft law on the amendment of the Law on voluntariate.   

Interior Minister Adrian Efros unveiled the draft. According to the official, the document was elaborated in order to develop the voluntariate and include the civil protection and defence against fires in the public utility sectors, in which volunteers can get involved.     

In this respect, the level of productivity and the efficiency of the public utility services provided will be improved, in order to motivate citizens to carry our voluntariate activities in the field of civil protection and defence against fires.    

According to the informative note to the draft, the bad weather recorded in the last years has proved that the residents are not prepared to react, if emergency situations occur. At the same time, if there were trained volunteers, the consequences of these situations would have been much more reduced, the draft’s authors say.  

Following the launch of the programme on consolidation of the services of rescuers and firemen in rural settlements in 2013, 80 territorial posts of rescuers and firemen have been set up, including based on voluntariate, which provide interventions in about 290 settlements.    

Statistics data shows that, in the first half of this year, more than 10,000 job missions of intervention teams were carried out, in order to liquidate the consequences of emergency situations, of which 586 – by the volunteer territorial posts of rescuers and firemen.
