MP from Gagauzia to be investigated for influence peddling

Chisinau, Nov. 16 /MOLDPRES/- The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office announced today that it has completed the criminal investigation and sent to court the criminal case against a deputy from Găgăuzia, suspected of influence peddling.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, in October 2019 - August 2021, the accused claimed and received in three installments from the whistleblower a total of 12 thousand euros, claiming that through other people he has influence over the judge of the Chisinau Court, which examined the civil case in which the complainant was the defendant. However, the civil case was not resolved in favor of the whistleblower.

The accused did not admit his guilt. If he is found guilty, the defendant risks a penalty from 150,000 to 200,000 lei or imprisonment from 2 to 7 years.
