Business people from Moldova, Austria participate in economic forum in Chisinau

Chisinau, 17 November /MOLDPRES/ - More business people from Moldova and Austria today brought together in Chisinau at an economic forum, in order to discuss new opportunities of cooperation. The event was organized in the context of the official visit by President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen.
In the opening of the Forum, President Maia Sandu said that Moldova had implemented more reforms, in order to improve the investment climate and invited business people from Austria to invest in Moldova. ‘’I appreciate the investments made by Austrian companies in Moldova. Moldova and Austria developed a strong partnership. The economic forum organized by the Chambers of Commerce and Industry give an excellent opportunity to deepen our relations. Sixty per cent of our exports go to the EU market. I invite economic agents of Austria to come to invest in Moldova,’’ the head of state said.
President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen said that Austria and Moldova were connected through a strong friendship and the relations between the two states can be deepened. The official noted that Austria was among the top countries which invest in Moldova and the Economic Forum held in Chisinau today is an important event, being also an opportunity for entrepreneurs to explore the economic potential of Moldova.
President of Moldova’s Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Sergiu Harea said the Economic Forum was meant to develop the bilateral cooperation between Moldova and Austria. ‘’The companies from the two countries have old cooperation relations, which we hope that they will be strengthened following the today’s event,’’ Harea added.
Attending the forum were high-ranking public personalities from two countries, as well as business people of the Austrian delegation from more sectors, including the agro-food field, medicine, insurances, consultancy, green energy, wood processing, constructions, transport, engineering.
Ninety four companies with Austrian capital work in Moldova and Austria is among the first ten investors of Moldova. According to statistics data, in 2021, the trade exchanges amounted to 120 million dollars. The export of goods carried out on this period reached 22 million dollars and the import recorded 98 million dollars.
