Moldovan Central Electoral Commission: Chance Political Party does not comply with procedure initiated to make control of electoral campaign's financing

Chisinau, 17 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Chance Political Party ignored an invitation by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) to come, today morning, to a meeting where it should have been informed about the mission of control over the financing of its electoral campaign and to submit the first set of documents demanded by the Commission.
Under a decision from 8 November, CEC instructed the initiation of the complex control over the financing of the electoral campaign by the electoral contender, Chance Political Party, for the entire period of reporting at the general local elections held on 5 November 2023.
„The Commission’s decision to carry out the control mission comes from the notifications made by authorities of the state and Moldovan citizens on the existence of signs of infringement of the normative framework in the financing of the electoral campaign of the electoral contender, Chance Political Party and the suspicions as to the correctness of the financing of its electoral campaign can be removed or confirmed through a control mission. In these conditions, the control mission was planned for the period 17 November 2024 – 17 January 2024,’’ CEC said.
Thus, on the date and the time established for the meeting of the sides’ appearance, the representatives of the Chance Political Party did not come and they neither informed CEC about their failure to come and this was recorded in the official report of the today’s meeting. At the same time, the concerned political party did not make available to the control team the set of documents which had been initially demanded.
In the context, CEC, in its capacity of independent body of supervision and control as to the financing of the political parties and electoral campaigns, urges all electoral contenders to observe the provisions of the legal framework, in order to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process.
