Central Electoral Commission: 34 per cent of electors vote in Moldova till 18:00

Chisinau, 19 November /MOLDPRES/ - About 300,000 citizens, accounting for 34 per cent of the electors, voted at the runoff of the general local polls till 18:00. The voting process is carried out in accordance with the electoral procedures, without major incidents. The president of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), Angelica Caraman, has unveiled information to this effect. 

According to the CEC leadership, the settlement with the highest voter turnout is Corjova, Dubasari district, where over 63 per cent of the electors voted. At the same time, the settlement with the lowest voter turnout is Todiresti, Ungheni district, where only 17 per cent of the electors came to vote.    

„Over 31 per cent of the electors voted in the Chisinau municipality. The most active are the citizens of the Vadul lui Voda town, where over 43 per cent of the electors voted. The most passive ones ate the citizens from the suburbs Codru and Bubuieci, where a bit more than 26 per cent electors voted. We have registered a voter turnout of 23 per cent in the Balti municipality and about 40 per cent – in the Comrat municipality of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia,’’ Angelica Caraman said.    

Also, the CEC head noted that a low voter turnout was recorded in the settlements where repeated voting was held, this time too. ‘’In the Chioselia Rusa village from UTA Gagauzia, a voter turnout of 0.33 per cent is registered, in the Cotovscoe village, Gagauzia, - 2.12 per cent, in the Salcia commune, Taraclia district – 5.26 per vent, in the Aluatu village, Taraclia district – over 10 per cent and in the Nicolaevca commune , Floresti district – under 14 per cent,’’ Caraman added.        

The runoff election of the general local polls is held in 273 settlements of Moldova today. As many as 839,239 people are expected to come to vote in all. The first preliminary data on the results of the elections will be presented at 22:00.
