Office for European Integration to be set up within State Chancellery

Chisinau, Nov. 22 /MOLDPRES/- Government's efforts in achieving Moldova's integration agenda in the EU will be amplified by setting up the Office for European Integration within the State Chancellery. Government approved a decision today.

According to the government's communication and protocol department, the creation of the office confirms the firm commitment to the European path of the Republic of Moldova and represents an important stage in the preparation of our country for the start of accession negotiations with the European Union.

The Office will be headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, and will manage the accession process internally, including coordinating the alignment of national legislation with the Community acquis. Also, the office employees will ensure effective communication about the European Union and the benefits of joining the EU.

The new organizational structure of the State Chancellery was also approved today. The institution will take on several new tasks, in different fields, as well as the role of national coordinator of external technical and financial assistance of the Republic of Moldova. The amendments aim to improve the activity of the State Chancellery and to strengthen its role as "Government Centre".
