Chisinau, 22 November /MOLDPRES/ - The spokesman for the government, Daniel Voda, at a news conference after the cabinet meeting, has informed about the launch of the Come Home on Christmas campaign, the government’s communication and protocol department reported.
„Christmas is a holiday which unites our country’s citizens through nice traditions, through the strong relations in the community, through the fact that it brings everybody together, at home, on holidays. The government this year launches the campaign, Come Home on Christmas, and urges all settlements, local public administrations from our villages and cities to organize nice holidays for the residents, to turn to good account the local artists and the traditions of the region, in order to strengthen the community,’’ Daniel Voda said.
The official noted that the winter holidays and the Christmas must no longer be a subject of division in the society.
„In the 2023 year, out of respect for our people, we put an end to the discussions about Christmas trees and whom the holidays belongs to. The Christmas is not only of Chisinau, is not only of the City Hall or of the Government. All over Europe, the Christmas is organized by the local administrations for people,’’ the spokesman for the government said.
The government will promote the traditions and urges the citizens of Moldova and from the Diaspora to tell us, through photos and video, how they celebrate the Christmas, what memories they have about this holiday and about the things which unite us and bring us together at the same table of holidays, at home. All these can be submitted to the email [email protected].
„The government elaborated also a circular letter meant for the heads of the districts and mayoralties from all over Moldova, thereby inviting the local authorities to join the Come Home on Christmas campaign. The activities proposed for being carried out include local fairs, exhibitions of traditional craftsmanship, concerts with local artists and interactive workshops for promoting the local traditions. These activities are meant for turning to good account the unique identity of each settlement, consolidating, at the same time, the cohesion and the community spirit,’’ Daniel Voda said.
The Culture Ministry will organize shows by our orchestras, dedicated to the winter holidays in community centres from Moldova.
The campaign will be updated also on the event created by the government on Facebook and can be taken over by all people, public and private institutions from Moldova.
The government invites also all district centres to join our initiative, The Library under the Christmas Tree, through which we promote the reading in the society, especially among young people, consolidate the cultural values, endow the school libraries, sections/wards for children at hospitals from Moldova. We also invite the publishing houses, bookshops and cultural organizations to support this initiative.
