Moldovan head of state has meeting with Secretary General of European Trade Union Confederation

Chisinau, 22 November /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has welcomed Secretary General of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) Esther Lynch in Chisinau, the presidential press service reported.  

The officials referred to the role and contribution of the trade unions to the protection of employees and creation of jobs, as well as the encouraging of the efficiency and enhancing the productivity at the working place.    

The head of state said that a comprehensive reform of the public institutions, including of the National Employment Agency (ANOFM) and of the State Labour Inspectorate, was underway in Moldova. At the same time, the Moldovan president mentioned the commitments to combat the unofficial salary payments, discussed also the social protection of employees and the efforts made to enhance the social insurance of the retired people.    

The head of state welcomed the openness of the European Trade Union Confederation to support the trade unions of Moldova, in their interest to take over the good European practices as to the labour protection. Maia Sandu emphasized the relevance of the trade unions, in partnership with the state institutions, in the national process of adaptation of the legislative framework to the European standards. It is worth mentioning that, in a short period, a memorandum of cooperation will be signed with the European Labour Authority (ELA), which will facilitate the integration of the labour inspection systems from Moldova and EU.
