Moldovan president meets director of Parquet national financier of France

Chisinau, 22 November /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today met Director of the Parquet National Financier (PNF) of France Jean-François Bohnert, on a visit to Chisinau, the presidential press service has reported.

PNF has national jurisdiction over the most complex and serious economic and financial offences.

At the meeting, Maia Sandu said that Moldova’s development depended on the quickness and quality with which decision-makers work on the files of big corruption and fiscal fraud, especially on the cases which inflicted huge damage to the state and the citizens.

The visit to Moldova by the mission led by de Jean-François Bohnert will enhance the institutional and operational cooperation between PNF and the Moldovan competent authorities. The taking over of good practices in the criminal prosecution sector will help Moldovan prosecutors to be more efficient in the settlement of high-level corruption, money laundering and complex tax evasion.

The head of state appreciated the French authorities’ openness to help Moldova in the advancement of the cases on recovery of the crime assets by the country.
