Moldovan wineries won 92 medals at Wine of Moldova contest

Chisinau, Nov. 23 /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan wineries won 92 medals at Wine of Moldova contest, second edition.

Six wines obtained the Grand Gold Medal, 80 wines were awarded the Gold Medal, and another six liqueurs were awarded the Silver Medal.

In total, 307 wine samples from 60 wineries entered the contest, which were assessed by a jury made up of 30 international and local experts.

The awards will be handed out to the wineries during the winter edition, due on December 15. Participants will have the opportunity to taste and evaluate the wines.

Wines produced from local varieties such as Fetească Albă, Fetească Regală, Răra Neagră and Fetească Neagră, from new varieties of Moldovan selection, such as Viorica, Legenda, Alb de Onițcani and Riton were evaluated at the contest.

The event was held on November 9-10, organized by the National Vine and Wine Office, with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the strategic partner USAID Moldova, through the Rural Competitiveness and Resilience project.
