Chisinau, Nov. 28 /MOLDPRES/- Decision on extending the state of emergency was published in the Official Journal today.
The state of emergency in Moldova has been extended by 30 days, starting from December 1, 2023. The proposal belongs to the government.
According to the government's informative note, this is determined by an unfortunate dynamics of regional security in recent months, by uncertainties regarding the further developments of the war waged by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, which preserves high security risks that may also affect Moldova. During the cold season, there is a risk that the Russian armed forces will intensify attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. This could have negative consequences on electricity supplies in our country. At the same time, the direct risks of energy insecurity caused by reducing the volume of natural gas delivered by the Russian Federation cannot be excluded.
During the state of emergency, the Commission for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Moldova will issue mandatory and enforceable provisions for the heads of central and local public administration authorities, economic agents, public institutions, as well as for citizens and other persons of Moldova.
The state of emergency throughout the country was declared by the Parliament on February 24, 2022, at the proposal of the Government of the Republic of Moldova, to allow prompt decision-making and the effective management of risks and threats that may arise.
