Moldovan president meets Deputy Director of IMF's European Department

Chisinau, 29 November /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu in Chisinau welcomed Deputy Director of the European Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mark Horton and the institution’s executive director, Paul Hilbers, the presidential press service has reported.
The officials discussed the situation in Moldova and in the region, as well as the recent economic developments. They also referred to the support provided by IMF for the economic re-launch, development of a stable and predictable economic environment, in the process of accession to EU.
The head of state thanked the IMF representatives for the partnership and permanent support provided to maintain Moldova’s economic stability. A stable and sustainable economic environment contributes to the economic development, ensuring the people’s well-being and facilitates the process of accession to the European Union.
Besides the present programme of policies with IMF, Moldova will benefit from a new financing facility, Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF). RSF will support the authorities’ efforts in the management of the climate challenges, including the enhancement of the resistance to the shocks related to climate and enhancing the energy security. The negotiations are finished and the positive decision by the IMF Board of Directors is expected in early next December.
