Chisinau, 30 November /MOLDPRES/ - Chairman of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada (parliament) Ruslan Stefanchuk today gave a speech at the plenary meeting of the parliament.
The Ukrainian official was met by Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, who said that both Moldova and Ukraine had chosen the way of democracy and received the status of countries candidates for EU.
‘’Our hope is that, in the nearest future, all EU member states will unanimously support the opening of the negotiations on accession to EU for Ukraine and Moldova. We must act as a single voice and this will be the strongest signal that we are united in a crucial moment for this century,’’ the parliament speaker said.
Ruslan Stefanchuk started his speech in the Romanian language. He thanked the Moldovans for the fact that they had opened their homes to help the Ukrainian women and children and thanked the Moldovan authorities for support.
„For more than 20 years, Ukraine has been experiencing the reality of a wide-scale war and is defending its right to sovereignty. Even if the unjust war continues, we hope for a just, long-lasting and comprehensive peace every day. Ukraine’s choice is obvious; we have no other choice for preserving the state’s independence and protecting the existence of the Ukrainians. The Russian invaders must leave our country,’’ the Ukrainian official said.
He reiterated that Ukraine was speaking out for the consolidation of the bilateral relations and for the European integration.
