Chisinau, Dec. 1 /MOLDPRES/- A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between SA Energocom and DEPA company. The document sees the parties' commitment to boost cooperation on gas supply, including liquefied natural gas (LNG), as well as coordinating the use of gas storage and transport infrastructure.
The memorandum was signed in Athens by Energocom's acting director-general Victor Bînzari and DEPA commercial manager Konstantinos Xifaras.
"The signing of this Memorandum means the deepening of the strategic cooperation we have with DEPA, but also a signal of the mutual will to reach a deeper level of partnership. Energocom will not only be able to ensure the needs of the internal market of the Republic of Moldova, diversifying its sources and supply routes, but also the energy market of Moldova will have access to LNG gas, including from the United States, brought through the terminals of Greece and through the trans-Balkan pipeline, in Moldova, Ukraine and Central Europe. This expanded access to sources will provide new competitive opportunities for consumers", said Bînzari.
Xifaras said that the signing of the memorandum marks the beginning of strategic cooperation between the two companies, which will facilitate the consolidation of energy relations and the diversification of their portfolios.
Energocom started collaborating with DEPA in April 2023, and since May, the Greek company won several tenders, and delivered gas to the Republic of Moldova for current consumption, as well as for storage in warehouses.
