Moldova's budget of mandatory health insurances accounts for 2024 approved with 9.1-per cent growth against 2023

Chisinau, 1 December /MOLDPRES/ - The mandatory health insurances accounts for 2024 will have revenues worth 15.4 billion lei and expenses of the same value. The cabinet today voted a draft law to this effect, at an initiative by the Health Ministry.  

Thus, a 9.1-per cent increase in the revenues against the earlier approved sum is recorded. At the same time, a growth of the sum by 15 per cent against the one approved for the 2023 year was forecast, at the expense of the employed people’s contributions.    

This will allow extending the package of medical services, more exactly: providing the compensation of medicines and some types of medical devices, including the widening of their list and spectrum, with emphasis on rare diseases, purchasing of medical services provided within special programmes, purchasing of neurological medical services for the providing of medical assistance to patients hit by acute cerebral vascular accident, for the medical and sanitary institutions included in the national medical assistance service of the Cerebral Vascular Accidents, covering the expenses for costly individual prostheses and consumables necessary for the surgical rehabilitation of patients sick with malignant and benign tumors, buying of highly advanced services for the diagnosing of diseases for both children and adults, covering the expenses related to the increases of salaries to the staff from the public medical and sanitary institutions starting from 1 October 2023.         

At the same time, new actions are announced for the first time ever this year, which will part of the single programme of health insurances, among which: the carrying out of hearing screening to all new-born children, introduction of the system of e-receipt for compensated medicines, which will also the specialists of narrow specialization prescribing medicines, giving possibilities to choose the provider of planned hospital medical services, etc.   

The payment of the allowances for the movement of medical staff, in the case of the movement to the working place from another settlement but the one where they live, will be provided from the state budget. Also, the network of drug stores will be created in villages (a number of the first 150 drug stores will be announced for 2024) and the infrastructure of the republican and district medical and sanitary institutions, the founder of which is the Health Ministry, will be improved in continuation.
