Well-known Moldovan folk music signer marks birthday

Chisinau, 2 December /MOLDPRES/ - A well-known folk and light music singer, People’s Artist, holder of the Order of Republic Zinaida Julea marks her birthday today.

Zinaida Julea was born in the Harbovat village, central Anenii Noi district, on 2 December 1951. She studied at the Stefan Neaga Music School (1973-1977) and Arts Institute (1988-1993) from Chisinau. At the age of 16 years, Julea was invited by master Serghei Lunchevici as soloist in the Flueras Folk Music Orchestra of the Chisinau-based Philharmonic, where she worked till 1991. The singer made numerous tours abroad, going to almost all continents.

In 1976, Zinaida Julea was awarded the honorific title of Merited Artist and in 1985 – People’s Artist. In 1993, the singer was awarded the Civic Merit medal and in 1997 – the Order of the Republic. Zinaida Julea sang with many well-known folk music singers of Moldova. A street bears Julea’s name in her native village.
