International Day of Persons with Disabilities marked in Moldova

Chisinau, 3 December /MOLDPRES/ - The people recognized with disabilities represent six per cent of the population with usual residence of Moldova. The concerned figures were unveiled by the National Statistics Bureau (BNS), on the occasion of the marking of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
Thus, on 1 January 2023, according to data by the National Social Insurances House (CNAS), 162,300 people were recognized with disabilities in Moldova, of whom 10,900 children with ages up to 17 years.
According to BNS, almost each second person with disability fit into the category of those with pronounced disability; most people recognized with disabilities were aged between 30 and 45 years and men are predominant, with a share of 52.8 per cent.
The rate of employment of the persons with disabilities is thrice lower against the one of other categories. About a half of those who have a job work in the services sector, followed by the sectors of agriculture, industry and constructions.
