Chisinau, 4 Dec. /MOLDPRES/- The authorities have prepared very well for the current cold season, much better than in previous years, so that all consumers can be sure of gas, heat and electricity at predictable prices. At the same time, gas stocks are sufficient to ensure consumption until February, and part of the prices could be reduced during the winter. Minister of Energy Victor Parlicov made the statements today. He unveiled information on the preparation of the country's energy system for the cold season.
"We are the best prepared for the cold season, much better than in previous years. The heating season started well, later than usual because we had a warm autumn. We entered the season technically prepared, everything is working normally. If we need additional gas, we will be able to purchase those volumes that will be needed. For now, we can stay calm", said Parlicov.
The minister also referred to the prices of energy resources, specifying that "we have ensured not only the security of the citizens' supply, but also predictable prices". "Beyond gas, we have a contract with MGRES. This gives us certainty of delivered volumes and stable prices. No matter what happens on the regional gas market, whether gas or electricity prices rise - we are protected. Consumers in the Republic of Moldova will have energy, heat and gas at stable prices, they have no way to increase. It is possible that part of the prices will be reduced during the winter, but for the moment I don't want to make any promises", the official said.
Parlicov added that the heat distribution system in Chisinau and Balti is ready for winter, and Termoelectrica will operate this year without fuel oil, as its use is more difficult both from a commercial and technical point of view.
He said that the authorities will launch an information campaign on the rational use of energy resources and urged consumers to save energy in order to have lower bills.
