Moldovan president has phone conversation with PM of Greece

Chisinau, 5 December /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has had a phone conversation with Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis. During the discussion, the Moldovan president highlighted the implementation of reforms by Moldova – progress reflected also in the European Commission’s report on European Union’s Enlargement, the presidential press service has reported.
The dialogue was focused on Moldova’s wish to start the negotiations on accession to EU as soon as possible. This subject is to be discussed at the meeting of the European Council due in mid-December.
President Sandu and PM Mitsotakis also reaffirmed their commitment for strengthening the bilateral relations. The concrete steps to this end are the opening of the embassy of Greece in Chisinau, scheduled for 2024 and the recent inauguration of the Athens-Chisinau flight, operated by Aegean Airlines. The leaders referred also to the continuation of the cooperation in the energy sector.
