EBRD to grant Moldova 150 million euro-loan for rehabilitation of roads

Chisinau, Dec. 6 /MOLDPRES/- Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will sign a loan agreement for the implementation of Moldova V road rehabilitation project. The agreement provides for the contracting of a loan worth 150 million euros. A project in this sense was approved today by the Government.

The amount granted by the EBRD represents 50% of the co-financing of the Moldova V road rehabilitation project, the other part of the amount being allocated by the European Investment Bank.

M2 road, Chisinau belt, sector 2 will be rehabilitated and modernized, by expanding it to four traffic lanes, with an estimated length of seven km. Also, approximately 85 km of the M1 road, the border with Romania - Leușeni - Chisinau - Dubăsari - the border with Ukraine will be rehabilitated.

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development said that these sections are of national and strategic importance both for streamlining traffic and for improving the connectivity of the Republic of Moldova with Ukraine and the European Union.
