More categories of Moldovan citizens to benefit from financial support worth up to 5,000 lei

Chisinau, 6 December /MOLDPRES/ - More categories of citizens will benefit from financial support worth up to 5,000 lei (about 250 euros). Labour and Social Protection Minister Alexei Buzu today announced five additional measures of support on the cold period of the year.  

At a news conference, the official stressed that the fulfillment of the measures was possible due to the financial support of development partners. The money will be provided in December or January. All data regarding the beneficiaries is included in the system and it is not necessary that they submit applications to receive the financial support.    

„We will provide a single payment worth 3,000 lei for 56,236 pensioners who were born before 1945, retired till 1999 and have a pension lower than 3,000 lei. At the same time, we will provide a single payment of 5,000 lei to 3,019 families who take care of or supervise children with severe disabilities. The third single payment of 5,000 lei will be provided to a number of 7,195 families with people with disabilities integrated in the personal assistance service. Also, 5,000 lei will be provided to 1,261 pregnant women or who suckle children with the age from 0 to 13 months and who are beneficiaries of social assistance. We will also provide a single increase for all employees from the social assistance system of Moldova – 9,751 employees. All these measures are carried out with the support of the government’s partners. Thank you for the support provided to the most vulnerable citizens,’’ Alexei Buzu said.   

Financial assistance will be provided to about 68,000 citizens within the programme. The measure has a budget of 226 million lei. At the same time, the programme meant for social assistants has a budget of 51 million lei.
